104 Must-Have Phonics Word Lists

104 must-have phonics word lists

I love it when a resource has everything I need in order to meet the needs of all of my students!

When that happens, it just makes my life so. much. easier. I don’t have to go digging around a gazillion different places trying to piece together activities to meet everyone’s learning needs.

That’s exactly why I created these 104 phonics word lists… All in one resource!

Here’s why I love these phonics word lists:

You can easily differentiate your centers!

Because there are 104 different word lists, you have plenty of phonics patterns available that will meet the needs of all of your students.

For example, one group of kiddos can work on a phonics list with CVC words while another group can work on long vowels with “magic e.”

All you need to do is print, cut in half and assign the lists to your groups.

An easy way to assign the different lists to the right groups is to put them in colored pouches/bins that match the colors of your groups (i.e. the red group gets the lists out of the red bin). Or you could print them on colored paper if you have it.

Want more ideas for how to differentiate your teaching? Check out this blog post where I share 4 easy differentiated instruction strategies!

Use them with any spelling activity!

These phonics word lists are PERFECT to use with any word work or spelling activity!

Some of my favorite word work centers activities are:

  • Rainbow Words: Students write each word on a piece of paper in 3 (or however many) different colors.
  • Magnetic Letters: I bought cheap cookie sheets at the Dollar Tree for the students to use with their magnetic letters.
  • Stamps: I bought alphabet stamps and ink pads at Lakeshore, but you can find them on Amazon or Walmart also!
  • Magnadoodle (or similar magnetic writing boards)
  • Scrabble Letters: Added math bonus… Have your students add up the values of their words after they build them.

And the best part? Students can complete all of these activities independently and without much hassle!

They’re easy to prep!

Just print and cut in half. That’s it!

Teacher tip for “lost” supplies and materials! Teacher tip for “lost” supplies and materials! 💡
I’ve always used a bin like this one where the students and I (let’s be honest… mostly me 😂) could put items that were left on the floor.
That way we would have a place to put all those loose items that went unclaimed, and students who realized they were missing something had a place to look. ✨
I guess it’s basically a more organized “lost and found” for the classroom. 😁
What do you do with lost supplies? What’a your favorite organization hack? Comment below 👇🏼 and let me know!

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ideas 💡
•
This impromptu “raise your hand” positive behavior chart isn’t pretty, fancy, or cute. But it gets the job done of helping to remind a student to raise their hand instead of shout out. When the student fills the chart with stars, they earn extra time playing math games.
•
I know this isn’t a genius idea and I’m sure many of you do something similar for various situations, but this is my way of reminding myself that not everything has to be Instagram-worthy or super cutesy. Sometimes the best ideas are the not-so-cute ones 🤪

I wanted a fun way to announce to the kids whether I’m having a boy or a girl, so at the last minute, I created these math problems that review some 3rd grade math skills we’ve worked on this year.
•
After they answered each one on their whiteboards, they had to add the four answers together. If the sum was even, it meant I’m having a girl and if it was odd, it meant I’m having a boy.
•
Since I have so many boys in my class, they were very excited to find out that my baby is a boy! 🧢😄
•
The best part is that it was no prep and it got the kids involved! Everyone was participating! 😊
